RE: RV parks in Florida

Quote:
Lake San Marino Resort in Naples, Fl have recently sent me emails with fantastic deals for smaller RV's. Lake San Marino Resort is part of Sun Communities, Inc.
It's a fairly nice park. Yes, they do have very good deals for class C's during their season. However.....when making a reservation at this park, make sure that you are not near the cement factory (in the back of the park) It runs 24/7.....ALL NIGHT LONG !!! and is LOUD!!
Thank you ginabas,
I called Lake San Marino this morning and spoke to the manager, Susan Jackson. She said that the cement plant is in the process of closing down, so there is "no noise anymore". If there is, I won't be there 10 minutes.

I have never seen the place, but have talked to others that have enjoyed their stay here. I am here for the month of February.
I also got a call from a family owned campground Rock Creek RV Resort in Naples, FL. They said that they still had openings. The campground is across the street from Naples Municipal Airport.

RE: Camp Fire In A Can / Propane Version

I have used our Campfire-in-a-Can propane several times with no problems. It sets up very quickly, has a variable flame (very low to very high) and does throw some heat. Since it is fairly small compared to some others I have seen, it stores very well. I do not know how much propane it uses. I have been carrying two tanks (10lb for the grill and a 20lb for the campfire), but have switched back and forth between the two.
Since I have not used the others, I cannot compare the Campfire-in-a-Can to them.
I hope this helps.

RE: Family Oriented Campground - NOT!

I agree that it is important to read the cancellation policy before booking, BUT the link from the bottom of Drummer Boy Camping Resorts reservation page;
"* Please confirm that you have read and agree to abide by
the reservation, cancellation and refund policies which are outlined below.
** No refunds on golf carts.
Resort Rules & Regulations
Reservation & Cancellation Policies
I agree"
gives you this
"Not Found
The requested URL /policy.HTML was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."
The link (http://www.drummerboycampresort.com/rules.html) on the Reservation page should be (http://bsquarewebhosting.com/~drummerb/index.php?pr=Reservation_Policy) as they have as a footer on the Rates page.
This is the way it has been since I read the original post days ago, so it is possible the OP tried to read the refund policy and couldn't.

RE: We are going to Boston

Hi
This is a link to a post that I made in July 2006. I have not check the links since then. As I stated in the post, start with the Duck Tour. I would make reservations well in an advance. I know I missed a few locations, so hopefully others can fill them in.
Enjoy
Paul
PS I tried copying it and the post was rejected.

RE: Electricity shuts off

I am assumming you mean you are turning on the electric hot water, not propane. Just a possibility, you may have a intermittent neutral.
From the VIPRV EMS documentation.
Note: An open neutral will cause there to be no reading on the display
Open Neutral Protection: If the source power has an open neutral condition the display will not light, and will not allow power to the RV.
EDIT
From the Hughes Autoformers website
"With an operation range of 95 to 130 volts input."
It doe not say what happens when the opperational voltage of 130 volts is exceeded.
I hope this helps.

RE: RV Parks, Bar Harbor/Penobscot Bay

Hi
I would go to Bar Harbor campground. No reservations need. Very nice, friendly and very inexpensive. Closet to Bar Harbor and main entrance to Acadia National Park.
Mt Desert Narrows and Mt Desert Narrows To are under new ownership as of this past winter 2008. Due to a very bad experience we had there this summer, IMHO, I would stay away from them. You can read their reviews on RVParksreview.com. Management is extremely poor.
Bar Harbor KOA is very nice and friendly also, but also very, very expensive. Great sunsets though. We stayed here last year.

RE: Mt Desert Narrows Campground, Bar Harbor, ME

When I went to the office to inquire, it was closed (closed at 5pm Sunday-Thursday). I noticed someone inside so I knocked, with attitude she told me they were closed, I told her I had a question, she again said, "We are CLOSED!". I finally said it was about the water and she came to the door and opened with a "WHAT???"
It funny how the management's atrocious top-down bad attitude has taken over in all three campgrounds. Did you have to pay a resort fee?
I hope that you take a few minutes an write up your experience in RVparkReviews.com.

RE: Help me pick - Bar Harbor

We spent last summer at Narrows Too. It was newly renovated, on the shuttle route to Bar Harbor and close to Ellsworth for shopping, movie rental, etc.
Mount Desert Narrows and TOO were bought out last winter (07/08) and are under new management. It is not the same place you stayed at. We stayed at Narrows 1 a couple weeks ago. I will never stay there again, nor will I recommend it to anyone.
As you already know RVPA, my vote is Bar Harbor Campground, but you won't be disappointed in the KOA if you decide to stay there. We stayed at the KOA last summer. The best sunsets. Very friendly staff.
Enjoy your trip.

RE: Direct TV or Dish JUST in MH?

I have done this many times through Dish Depot with no problems. There are no local channels and you do need a special receiver. I like the fact that they email the information and you don't have to wait for the card to be mailed to you.
Here is a link to more information.
There several different programming options.
